Ippocalyptica
Consider me buried and scared of the light! I typically detest funeral doom, but there is nothing typical about Ave Maria II, either with regard to Déhà’s visionary interpretation of Schubert’s material or his masterfully gut-punching execution of it. I still lack the words to properly convey my feelings, but the stunning juxtaposition of beautiful soprano vocals and heavy, world-ending riffs is devastatingly impactful. Listen to this in the dark, and revel in its eschatological glory!
