I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross! Peikonmieli

Majestic, intricate, and atmospheric melodic black metal. The melodies throughout this album are infectious. The vocals are quite varied (there is a wide array of harsh timbres, but there are also pleasing cleans); the guitar work is complex, layered and rich with innovative riffs; the bass sits in a good spot in the mix; the programmed drums are well done; and the keyboards add a mystical grandeur throughout this album. I am sad this project is closed because this album is well produced, with warm guitar lines mixed with black ones and excellent arpeggios. Some instrumental guitar passages remind Aerial Ruin's and Agalloch's lesson too. I consider this album almost an entire song with a clear climax in my fav one, especially in the end. A catharsis for my soul in this time. fleba_il_fenicio
Crushing blackened doom from this German band that counterbalances blinding fury with moments of surprising, melancholy melody. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 8, 2023
Tokyo band contrast black metal's brutal complexity with shoegaze's abyssal grandeur, resulting in an LP that feels crushing, yet infinite. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 24, 2022

Nightfall's Lament is as Ocean of Grief as it gets as far as the music and atmosphere go. These rat bastards once again takes it to new heights, filling your mind with doom and riffs tinged with black metal, through and through. The riffage compliments one another, with some feeling amped up than often leading into the cold and frosty ones . Old Man Doom
