It would be hard for me to recommend this EP more highly; the idea is very novel and intriguing, and the music lends itself to the concept quite well. A feeling of mysticism and rage manifests itself throughout, evoking the imagery perfectly.
It's not easy to pick any one song as a favorite, considering how solid every track is. The opening track, though, is a great demonstration of what they're all about and contains what I consider the most memorable melody on the album. Catchy stuff. Favorite track: Steinhammer.

German Black Metal with an interesting concept and loads of good ideas and variety in the songwriting. Sometimes they play quite harsh, sometimes there are atmospheric acoustic moments. Also the vocals are special, means often wild and nearly hysteric but sometimes accompanied by growling or clean moments. You always feel, that this band is really inspired and full of black spirit!

I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross!

Blackened death metal typically does not draw from the dsbm side of the black metal spectrum. This mix of dsbm and melodeath is different enough from the norm to be compelling. Takes a few listens but it’s very good.
