H.L. Phew! With a length around 20 minutes per track this atmospheric post black-metal monument can definitely not be labeled as easy listening. But that is just because of the length. The songwriting itself is varied, but always fluent and even quite catchy. The songs are very powerful compared to the genre's average and the vocals are really desperate and intense. To check it out try minutes 5 to 11 from Le Voyage - Part I! Excellent! Favorite track: Le Voyage - Part I.

After a conceptual album about existencialism ("Nausea"), Imber Luminis is back with a brand new album based on Charles Baudelaire's own magnificent poem "Le Voyage".
Named "Contrasts", the album is a superb piece of post black metal - luminous and bright - contrasted (sic) by emotional vocals as we are used to hear from mastermind Déhà.

You can expect a highly atmospheric and varied album, a grand successor for "Nausea" indeed.

It's tremendously difficult to breathe in the thick and gloomy atmosphere NONE creates in this release. It's adorned with riffs so delicious, yet so devastating. The tracks are repetitive, yet never once do they get mundane. Definitely worth the listen if you are into slower-paced DSBM, this is truly a masterpiece. ethan_t

I've come back to this album to give it it's well-deserved due. The interpositions are coherent and cold, it's all put together really nicely which adds to the effectiveness of it's depressing atmosphere, and to it's faculty-decimating power. Throughout the album it often reminds me of the great Bathory, which is always a good thing. What will you see? Daniel Brown
