RJ A very solid black metal album with a great use of orchestral elements that adds a good bit of atmosphere. The Tolkien influences and themes are a great bonus. 7/10 Favorite track: Besieged.

Våndarr Moody and atmospheric with a kick ass theme that is executed well through clever use of orchestration and vocal delivery. Favorite track: At the gate.

last vinyl before doomsday Triumphant melodic black metal with touches of Bathory and Immortal. Love the Lord of the Rings theme, and the artwork is KILLER. Can't stop playing this album!

Sonny92 Not at all the horrible cheese-fest you may well be expecting from an atmo-black act that bases it's entire raison d'être on Tolkien's Middle Earth. In fact, this is a quite aggressive-sounding album and a big improvement on 2018's debut. Apart from a couple of pseudo-folk moments comprising one intro and the final track (which is actually a nice ending to the album), this is black metal riffing and blasting nearly all the way.

Metallurgical Fire I freely admit to not being able to get into this band’s last effort. This pre-order track is in my opinion so many light years ahead of anything on the last album it’s as if we are hearing two different bands. Besieged is so good: more aggressive, heavier, and the vocals are great.
Update: this album is definitely a step up in every way from the debut. Really fantastic vocals. Favorite track: Besieged.

It's tremendously difficult to breathe in the thick and gloomy atmosphere NONE creates in this release. It's adorned with riffs so delicious, yet so devastating. The tracks are repetitive, yet never once do they get mundane. Definitely worth the listen if you are into slower-paced DSBM, this is truly a masterpiece. ethan_t

This style of black metal often misses the mark with me, but Sojourner pulls it off very well. Empires of Ash contains heaviness and beauty, while not overdoing the elements of epic black metal that can come across as cheesy in other releases. The female vocals are a nice touch. Metallurgical Fire
